PVC hose covers a lot of ground, from simple unreinforced tubing for low-pressure water transfer to braided hose rated for compressed air and general industrial fluids. Reinforcement is the main thing that separates the two. Braided PVC hose, using polyester or nylon braid inside the wall, holds a working pressure that plain PVC tube can't, which matters for air lines and anything running above a few bar.

Check the bore size against your fitting, not just the outside diameter; a hose that looks like it fits can still be the wrong internal bore for the flow rate you need. What's the difference between braided and unreinforced PVC hose?

Braided PVC hose has a polyester or nylon braid built into the wall, which lets it hold a higher working pressure. Unreinforced PVC tube is fine for low-pressure gravity transfer but isn't rated for compressed air or pressurised lines.

Is PVC hose resistant to chemicals?

Standard PVC hose has some resistance to mild acids and alkalis but isn't a substitute for dedicated chemical hose. For concentrated chemicals or solvents, check our Acid & Chemical Hose range instead.

How do I choose the right bore size?

Match the internal bore to your fitting and required flow rate, not just the outside diameter. A hose that fits the fitting by outside measurement can still have the wrong bore for the flow you need.
