Jubilee Clips
Jubilee clips are the British standard for securing hoses to fittings, and ours are the genuine article. Every clip in this range is manufactured by Jubilee, Kitemark and BSO approved, and available in mild steel (zinc-plated) or stainless steel — the two materials that cover the vast majority of applications.
We stock the full Jubilee range, including individual clips in sizes from 7mm to over 150mm, boxes of 10 for workshop use, Hi-Torque heavy-duty clamps for high-pressure and vibration-prone applications, Jubilee Multiband for custom-length or irregular profiles, and selection boxes to keep a maintenance kit fully stocked. Flexidrivers are also available for awkward access. Free delivery on orders over £200 to England and Wales.

How to choose the right Jubilee clip
Pick the wrong size and the clip either won't seal or will damage the hose wall when tightened. The measurement that matters is the outside diameter of the hose once it is fitted onto its spigot, not the hose bore, and not the spigot diameter. Choose a clip where that measurement sits in the middle of the stated size range, not at the extremes. A clip tightened at its maximum diameter applies less even force than one used in its mid-range.
Material choice is usually straightforward. Mild steel (zinc-plated) clips handle most general-purpose, indoor, and dry-environment applications without issue. Stainless steel is the correct choice for marine use, outdoor installations, chemical exposure, food-grade systems, and anywhere that sees repeated washdown or long-term moisture. The salt-spray test difference is significant: mild steel achieves 72–240 hours; stainless steel offers long-term corrosion resistance with no comparable upper limit. When in doubt about the environment, go stainless.
For high-pressure or high-vibration installations (automotive, industrial compressed air systems, or anywhere the hose and fitting experience cyclical stress) the Hi-Torque heavy-duty clamps are built for that. Standard worm-drive clips handle up to around 203 psi on smaller diameters, but the Hi-Torque range exceeds those figures and maintains clamping force under vibration, where a standard clip can work loose over time.
If you are clamping an unusual profile, a non-circular cross-section, or need a run of continuous banding for multiple clamp points, Jubilee Multiband is cut to length on site and buckled with a standard worm-drive housing. It is a practical solution for agricultural, industrial, and fabrication applications where standard clip sizes do not fit.
For fitting, a flat-blade screwdriver works on all clips. The Jubilee Flexidriver is worth having if access is restricted as it reaches around obstructions that a straight screwdriver cannot. Tightening torque runs from 3.4 Nm on small clips to a maximum of around 9 Nm; overtightening on a soft hose cuts into the wall rather than sealing it.

What size jubilee clip do I need?
Measure the outside diameter of the hose once it is fitted onto the spigot or pipe, not the hose alone, and not the fitting alone. Fitting the hose onto a barb or spigot causes it to expand slightly, so the pre-fit measurement will leave you with a clip that is too small.
As a rule, choose a clip where your measurement sits comfortably in the middle of the stated size range. A clip used at the extreme top or bottom of its range produces worse clamping geometry than one used around the midpoint.
Common sizing by application:
- Garden hose (standard): 20-32 mm clip
- Garden hose (lightweight): 18-25 mm clip
- Washing machine inlet or outlet: 18-25 mm or 20-32 mm clip
- Car coolant hose (rubber): 25-40 mm or 30-45 mm clip
- Radiator top hose: 30-45 mm clip
- Fuel line (low pressure): 9-16 mm or 11-16 mm clip
- Marine or coastal use: match to hose OD, 316 all-stainless only
For the complete size chart covering the full Jubilee clip range from 9 mm to 120 mm, see our jubilee clip guide.
Tightening torque: for standard worm-drive Jubilee clips, the recommended tightening torque is 3.4-6.7 Nm depending on size, with a maximum of 4.5-9 Nm before risking thread or band damage. Tighten gradually and stop when the hose is firmly compressed without distorting. For a full torque reference by clip size band, see our jubilee clip guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
What size Jubilee clip do I need for my hose?
Measure the outside diameter of the hose once it is pushed onto the spigot. That is the figure to match against the clip's stated size range. Choose a clip where your measurement falls in the middle of the range, not at the minimum or maximum, for the most even clamping force. Our clips cover diameters from 7mm up to over 150mm. If you are unsure, the sizing FAQ in our Jubilee clip guide covers this in detail.
What is the difference between a Jubilee clip and a hose clamp?
They are the same thing. Jubilee is the original British brand name for the worm-drive hose clip, and Jubilee clip has become the common term in the UK for the product type. In the US and in industrial contexts, hose clamp is the more common term. The mechanism is identical: a slotted stainless steel band tightened by a worm-drive screw. The brand name Jubilee specifically refers to clips manufactured by Jubilee, and it is not a generic description.
Are stainless steel Jubilee clips better than mild steel?
For corrosion resistance, yes. Stainless steel clips are the correct choice for marine, outdoor, chemical, or food-grade applications. Mild steel (zinc-plated) clips are perfectly adequate for general-purpose indoor use on water, air, and fuel lines in dry or protected environments. The practical test: if the installation will see moisture, salt, or chemical exposure over time, use stainless. If it is a dry, indoor fitting that will not be disturbed regularly, mild steel is fine and costs less.
Can Jubilee clips be reused?
Yes, provided the clip has not been overtightened to the point of deforming the band or housing. Loosen the screw fully, remove the clip, inspect it for cracks or distortion in the band, and refit if it looks undamaged. Stainless steel clips tolerate removal and refitting better than mild steel, which can show corrosion at the thread after prolonged use. Clips used in high-pressure or vibration-heavy applications should be inspected carefully before reuse and replaced if there is any doubt.
What is the pressure rating of a Jubilee clip?
Standard worm-drive Jubilee clips handle up to approximately 203 psi (around 14 bar) on smaller diameters, with larger diameters typically rated at around 102 psi (7 bar). Tightening torque ranges from 3.4 to 6.7 Nm for standard clips, with a maximum of 9 Nm. The Hi-Torque heavy-duty range exceeds these figures and is the correct choice for high-pressure compressed air systems, automotive cooling, or any installation subject to sustained pressure and vibration.
What is the lifespan of a Jubilee clip?
A Jubilee clip’s lifespan depends on its material and environment, but all genuine clips meet BS 5315 and exceed required corrosion‑resistance levels. Mild steel versions achieve 72–240 hours of salt‑spray protection, while 304 and 316 stainless steel clips offer long‑term durability in marine, chemical and outdoor conditions.
Do Jubilee clips work on rigid pipework?
Jubilee clips are designed to compress flexible hoses onto rigid fittings. They are not intended to clamp directly onto solid pipework without a hose.
Are Jubilee clips suitable for fuel lines?
Jubilee clips can be used on low‑pressure fuel lines when correctly sized and fitted. The hose must be flexible enough for uniform compression, and the clip should sit within its mid‑range diameter for optimal sealing. For high‑pressure fuel injection systems, purpose‑designed clamps such as EFI clamps or O‑clips are preferred.
What tools do I need to fit a Jubilee clip?
A flat‑blade screwdriver, nut spinner or Jubilee Flexidriver is typically used. The Flexidriver is especially useful for tight or awkward spaces.
