Load moreHosetails and hose tail fittings for every application
A hosetail is one of the most common hose fittings you'll use. One end threads into a port — BSP or metric — and the other takes the hose bore, held in place by a clip or ferrule. Simple in principle, but the material and thread specification matter.
Brass suits most general-purpose applications: water, air, hydraulic oil, and fuel lines where the temperature stays reasonable and the medium isn't corrosive. Stainless steel is the right choice where you're dealing with acids, aggressive chemicals, or food-grade requirements. Nylon comes into its own on low-pressure pneumatic lines and where weight is a factor.
The thread side needs to match whatever port you're connecting into. BSP (British Standard Pipe) is the most common in UK industrial settings. Metric threads appear more often on European equipment and compressed air systems. Get the thread form wrong and you'll either not connect at all, or create a joint that leaks under pressure.
Hose bore selection follows the same logic as any hose fitting: match the tail OD to the hose's internal diameter for a proper grip. Going oversized risks splitting the hose; undersized and you won't achieve a seal.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between a BSP and metric hosetail?
BSP (British Standard Pipe) and metric are different thread standards. BSP is most common on UK-made equipment and hydraulic components. Metric threads appear frequently on European equipment and compressed air systems. The two are not interchangeable — always check the port thread before ordering.
What material hosetail do I need?
Brass suits most general applications: water, air, hydraulic oil and light fuel lines. Stainless steel is correct for corrosive media, chemicals, or food-grade requirements. Nylon works well on low-pressure pneumatic lines. If you're unsure, check the hose manufacturer's recommendation for the medium and temperature range.
Can I order a single hosetail?
Yes. There are no minimum order quantities. You can order one fitting or a hundred.
Do you deliver hosetails near me?
We deliver across England and Wales with free delivery on orders over £200. Orders placed before the daily cut-off are typically dispatched the same day for next-day arrival.
