The Specification You Can't Afford to Get Wrong
Gas hose sits in a different category to most other hose applications. The consequence of a failure, particularly with LPG, which is heavier than air and accumulates rather than dispersing, is serious. The regulatory framework around gas fittings and connections reflects that. Use only approved hose and fittings, install to the relevant standard, and inspect regularly.
We also sell competitively priced oxygen and propane hose sets which are ideal for a broad range of soldering, brazing and heating applications. Our gas hose range also includes hoses suitable for use with argon, nitrogen, as well as industrial oxygen, and industrial acetylene.
What’s more, we also stock copper tubing, available in various lengths and sizes (both imperial and metric).
For LPG connections, cookers, barbecues, catering equipment, and forklift trucks, the hose needs to be rated for LPG at the working pressure of the regulator being used. Standard BS3212-compliant rubber gas hose covers most domestic and light commercial applications. Heavy-duty stainless steel braided hose is used where the application demands better durability or where the hose is in a fixed installation with potential for mechanical damage.
Fittings need to be compatible with the gas type, pressure rating, and the thread form on the appliance or regulator. BSP is the standard thread in the UK. Left-hand threads are used on some LPG fittings as a safety convention don't force a right-hand fitting onto a left-hand port.
For catering applications, the installation needs to comply with IGE/UP/1 (industrial) or IGE/UP/2 (commercial catering) as applicable. If you're in any doubt about the regulatory requirements for your installation, consult a Gas Safe-registered engineer.
Orders over £200 to England and Wales qualify for free delivery, with same-day dispatch on most in-stock lines.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use the same hose for LPG and natural gas?
Not necessarily. LPG and natural gas have different chemical properties, and the hose needs to be rated for the specific gas. Check the product specification for approved gas types.
What length of gas hose do I need?
Gas regulations specify maximum hose run lengths for different applications. For most catering and domestic appliance connections, short drops of less than 2 metres are standard. Check the relevant Gas Safe or IGE guidance for your installation type.
What thread type do I need for gas fittings?
BSP (British Standard Pipe) is the standard in the UK. LPG fittings sometimes use left-hand threads as a safety feature; check the appliance specification before ordering.
Does a gas hose have a service life?
Yes. Rubber gas hose should be inspected regularly and replaced at the manufacturer's recommended interval, typically every 5 years, or sooner if any cracking, hardening, or kinking is visible.
Do you sell gas hose and fittings near me?
The Hosemaster delivers to all UK mainland addresses. Orders over £200 to England and Wales qualify for free delivery, with 1–2 day delivery and same-day dispatch on most in-stock lines.
